Naloxone Vending Machine at Town Hall

The Town of Sims and surrounding areas in Wilson County are committed to fighting the opioid crisis by expanding access to harm-reduction resources, including Naloxone vending machines. Contents include Naloxone (Narcan) nasal spray, medication locking bags, ONEbox flex boxes (offers on-demand training for bystander assistance during emergencies), Fentanyl & Xylazine testing strips, and access/contact information for local resources.

Training and Resources:

  • Individuals can receive Naloxone administration training sponsored by the Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition (WCSPC) or Wilson Professional Services (WPS). Training includes recognizing opioid overdose signs and the role of harm reduction, as well as three Naloxone kits provided after training.

Emergency Guidance:

  • For suspected overdoses, administer Narcan immediately and call 911.

  • Training ensures preparedness to recognize and respond to overdoses effectively.

Everyone needs food, but not everyone can easily afford groceries. The Family Food Basket in Sims is making sure no one goes hungry. They serve more than 400 families each month, and while most of their food comes from the North Carolina Food Bank, they rely on help from the community to keep everyone fed.
